Hello fellow Enablers,
Whilst facilitating a recent peer mentoring session with an Aquilae Academy team I felt self conscious.
Once again I was bringing the topic back to Fulfilling Performance, albeit from a fresh angle.
I caught myself wondering:
Are they politely squirming, thinking “Here we go again… it’s like listening to a broken record”?
But then I remembered something I heard years ago:
Only when your team members start doing impressions of you delivering your message can you be sure that they’ve received it.
As leaders we often get bored or uncomfortable repeating the same messages long before our people have had the chance to absorb them.
In this case, I needn’t have felt uncomfortable.
The leaders in the Academy Team confirmed that they valued hearing the message again, especially from a different perspective. Each time, it helps them understand it better and consider how they can enable Fulfilling Performance for themselves and those they lead and care about.
Here’s a short clip from that session of me sharing this same message and laughing at my own “obsession” with Fulfilling Performance.
Reflection prompts
What are the key messages you need to get across to your team members?
Are they doing impressions of you sharing them yet?
If not, I suggest you keep finding opportunities to repeat yourself until they are!
The Fulfilling Performance Hub
I’m planning a virtual session to connect leaders who are interested in enabling Fulfilling Performance for themselves and those they lead and care about.
If that sounds interesting and you’d like to be notified when I schedule it, just let me know and I’ll add you to the list.

“Go to people” need people to go to!
The Aquilae Academy: Guided peer mentoring and coaching for executives, senior leaders and business owners.
Running a business or holding a senior position in an organisation can be very rewarding. At the same time it can be challenging and even lonely.
There are certain topics we are either unable or uncomfortable to discuss with colleagues no matter how self aware and open we are.Sometimes it is just not appropriate to discuss an issue with a colleague. Maybe they are the issue!
Our partners and friends may want to listen and help but they may not have relevant experience or be completely independent.
The Aquilae Academy is for senior leaders and business owners who:
acknowledge that they can’t and don’t have to do it alone
value interdependence and
are looking to continue learning and growing with the support of a team of like minded peers
If this sounds like you, contact me and I’ll happily tell you more.
Thank you,
Andy
